Below you will find a comprehensive list of almost all of the items that appear on the item screen, along with your armor and weapons. Most, if not all, have a usefull purpose at some point in the game, some are strange, and some are really fun!

Silver arrowThe Bow and Arrow is an excellent weapon, first discovered in the big chest in the Eastern Palace. Though you start with only 30 arrows, the number may become greater later in the game. The Silver Arrows, given to you by the Fat Fairie in the Dark World, are necessary to defeat Ganon, your final enemy.

BombThe Bomb is an instumental tool in finding hidden items and fairies. Sold in shops,discovered in chests, or found by killing enemies, the bomb is used to destroy walls and on certain bosses as well. The Red Bomb (not shown), is needed to enter the Fat Fairies chamber and get the Silver Arrows.

The Book of MudoraThe Book of Mudora enables Link to interprit the ancient language of the Hylian people. It is located in the Kakariko Library and is necessary to get the Ether and Bombos medallions, as well as to enter the Desert Palace.

Blue BoomerangRed boomerangThe boomerang has several purposes in your arsonel. It is useful for stunning foes and retrieving items a distance away. First found in Hyrule Castle, a fairie may later change it into the more powerful red boomerang if you are truthful.

The BottleThe Bottles have several useful purposes. They can be used to store the potions you buy in trade, or to transport fairies and bees. Bottles are found in several places, one is to be bought, others are gifts or found in chests.

The Bug Catching NetThe Bug Catching Net, while technically not an essential item, still is very useful. Given to you by a sick boy in Kakariko, you can trap Fairies or bees in it, then bottle them or let them free.

The Cane of ByrnaThe Cane of Byrna,found in a hidden mountain cave in the Dark World, is a useful item so long as Link has the neccesary magic power left. When used, it emits a beam of protective light around Link that makes him invincable to attack for as long as it remains activated.

The Cane of SomariaThe Cane of Somaria is a powerful staff, useful so long as Link has the required magic power left. When used, it creates a block that can be pushed or used to cross long dungeon chasms, or the blobk can be shattered, sending destructive power at any enemies in its path.

Fire RodThe Fire Rod becomes one of Link's items after being discovered in the Skull Dungeon (skull woods). Though it uses some of Link's magical power, it is useful in reaching unaccesable lamps or on enemies.

the fluteThe Flute is the fasted method of transportation around the Light World. Once, it had been used by a lad who would play for the animals in the Haunted Grove. Since he is now trapped in the Dark World, he gives Link his Shovel (not shown) to dig up his flute, which was buried under a patch of flowers. With the flute, Link can awaken the windcock in Kakariko, who is willing to fly him to several prime Light World locations.

The GlovesThe Power Gloves and Titan's Mitt are neccessary for pulling up heavy items such as large white or black stones. The Power Glove is located in the Desert Palace, while the more powerful Titan's Mitt can be found deep into Blind's Dungeon.

the hammerThe Hammer, a tool located within the depths of the Dark Palace, is a tool useful for pounding stakes into the ground to reach those otherwise inaccessable places. Its other uses include being able to stun certain enemies momentarily.

The HookshotThe Hookshot is a tool found in the Dark World, in the second dungeon, the Watergate Dungeon. Its uses include being able to stun enemies or being used to cross long, treacherous gaps. The Hookshot is also used on the boss of the Misery Mire Dungeon.

The LanternThe Lantern is the first tool you will recieve in the game. Discovered in an old chest in Link's house, it uses magical power to light lamps to show your way. Watch your magic meter!

The Magic CapeThe Magic Cape is a mythical legend of Hylain lore, with the power to make its wearer invisable. This object, found in a hidden location in the graveyard, enables Link to walk through certain enemies and objects while using magic power.

The Magic PowderThe Magic Powder is a usefull, yet not often essential tool. Given to you by the Witch after you give her a Mushroom (not shown) to brew, it can be used to light lanterns, change the forms of certain enemies and even make the fire circle things change into fairies!

Link's mail armorThe Mail is Link's chief method of protection after his shield. Throughout the game there is the oppertunity for 3 different mails, the first, the green mail, is Link's armor for the beginning of the game. Later, in the Ice Palace, he will find the Blue Mail, and still later in Ganon's Tower will he find the ultimate protection, the Red Mail.

The Meddallions are powerful magic items that link finds throughout his journey. Bombos (left) is a powerful explosion, and can be found on a ledge in the Desert. The Quake Meddalion (center) shocks the land around it in an Earthquake, and is given to you by a fish-like creature where Zora's Waterfall would be in the LW, while Ether (right) destroys enemies with the power of wind and is found on Death Mountain.

The MirrorThe Magic Mirror uses no magic power at all, actualy. Given to you by an old man on Death Mountain in exchange for helping him find his way, this mirror is the only way to return from the Dark World. When used, it creates a warp back to the DW from where you returned.

The Moon PearlThe Moon Pearl is one of the most important items in the game. Found on Death Mountain, it prevents Link from being turned into a rabbit every time he enters the Dark World, as when the DW is entered you become what you are in your heart.

The Pegasus ShoesThe Pegasus Shoes will help speed up Link's journey across the plains of Hyrule. Given to you by the elder Sahasrala, they allow Link to dash with speed, making him charge fearlessly or able to knock down weeker stone walls.

Blue PotionRed potion Green PotionThe Magic potions, to be bought in stores (With the main one the witches Hut) Do various healing works on Link. The Blue Potion (left) Will heal his magic and life fully, the Red Potion (center) Heals his life fully, and is also free from the apprentice and for sale elseware, while the green potion (right) refills his magic guage and is free from the fairie who gives you the Red Shield.

Link's ShieldLink's shield is his second foremost method of protection. In the beginning you start off with only your uncle's shield, which is later upgraded to the red shield, and eventualy you may find the elusive Mirror Shield (at left), with the power to deflect beams, a neccessary defense in later dungeons.

The SwordThe sword is Link's primary method of attack, being useful on most enemies and bosses. Link begins with his uncle's own sword, later finding the legendary Master Sword (final version pictured at left), which can be upgraded several times, each time becoming more powerful. If Link has full life, the Master Sword emits a beam of energy able to hurt enemies from a distance when it is swung.

Zora's FlippersZora's Flippers are an item that allows Link to swim in the deeper waters of Hyrule and the Dark World. They can be sold to him by Zora, who lives at the well-names Zora's Waterfall, and as an added bonus Zora may throw in the chance for Link to use the water warps.
